Scope
Content
This report presents, paraphrased in tabular format, an overview of the Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) for aircraft oxygen systems. It is intended as a ready reference for those considering the use of oxygen in aircraft and those wishing to familiarize themselves with the systems requirements for existing aircraft. This document is not intended to replace the oxygen related FAR but rather to index them in some order. For detailed information, the user is referred to the current issue of the relevant FAR paragraph referenced in this report.
Rationale
Content
The revision of this Aerospace Information Report is made in consequence of Joint Aviation Regulations obsolence and their transition to the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
The Joint Aviation Authorities have been an alliance of 34 European Civil Authorities and a technical panel within the European Civil Aerospace Conference. The responsibilities of the agency were terminated at June 30, 2009. Most of their tasks were carried over to the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). Today the former JAA continues as Training Organisation named JAA-TO focused on training issues in Aerospace Area.
The corresponding actual EASA Air Operations Regulatory Framework will be provided within the new Aerospace Information Report “AIR6256 - When and How Shall Oxygen be Used on Aircraft”
Accordingly, this document will cover only applicable parts of Code of Federal Regulations Title 14 (14CFR).
