Method of the Loop Heat Pipe's (LHP's) heat transfer characteristics' determination by using nomograms is described in present paper. Graphs, presenting the characteristics of the different parts of the LHP, that have been drawn in combined coordinate system, permit to determine the “working points” which meet the main requirements on the LHP operation.
The most positive effect from the proposed method application can be obtained during the express thermal analysis, for example:
  1. a)
    at the Statement of Work (Technical Requirements Specification) forming separately for different parts of the Two-Phase Loop: evaporator, condenser, transport channels, reservoir;
  2. b)
    at the analysis of the influence of the temperature field non-uniformity in the condenser on the value of the vapor temperature inside the LHP evaporator (as a factor depending on the vapor-liquid interface position);
  3. c)
    at the analysis (application) of calculated characteristics obtained by using the different applied programs separately for different parts of the LHP;
  4. d)
    at the comparison (joint consideration) of the experimental characteristics of the condenser and the calculated characteristics of the evaporator and vice versa, the comparison of the experimental characteristics of the evaporator and the calculated characteristics of condenser, etc.
