Abstract
Several blown micro fiber (BMF) electrets recently developed under proprietary technologies have shown significant improvements in efficiency drops when compared with conventional electrets. These electrets have good pleatability, high efficiency and low pressure drop and can be used in a variety of applications, including auto cabin air filters (CAFs). Quantitative data of using oily cigarette smoke particles are presented to illustrate the differences. A newly developed method, which utilizes saturated cigarette smoke particles to characterize the new materials, is also introduced in this paper.
