Abstract
Aramid in tires for progress in commercial vehicles
Tires are vital for vehicle behavior and safety, and for road transport economics. With regard to material and energy usage as well as to limited lifetime, they also represent an important environmental issue.
The evolution of vehicles is closely linked up with the evolution of tires, and the evolution of tires with the developments in reinforcing materials.
Aramid is invented decades after the introduction of the radial tire.
Now the material is in the center of interest of all tire designers. Reconsideration of tire designs and reconsideration of the vehicle undercarriage design will make it possible to realize progress in commercial road transportation worldwide.
