Abstract
An examination of selected magnesium alloys formed by extrusion process will demonstrate a successful practice of converting metals into various useful shapes. A visual representation of metal flow, as shown by a differential etching method will be discussed. By understanding the response of magnesium alloys formed by extrusion, functional design requirements, e.g., mechanical properties, internal metal integrity, surface characteristics, etc., can be realized.
