Authors Abstract
Content
An electronically controlled hydraulic pressure regulator, that could be used in an automotive or aircraft “brake-by-wire” system, is analyzed using the Saber® Simulator. The design incorporates electrical, mechanical and hydraulic elements. The entire dynamic system is modeled, including the interactions between the hydraulic and electrical components. Sensitivity analysis is used to identify key parameters affecting performance, and stress analysis indicates components that are operating near or above rated values.
These simulation techniques are applicable to a broad range of dynamic systems, especially those containing multiple technologies that must work together to accomplish the overall design objectives. The method supports the concept of interdisciplinary design teams, by providing enhanced communication among engineering specialists.
