Abstract
Practical experiences regarding the measurement with a new oil consumption meter on the engine test bed are reported especially with regard to short measurement times. A continuous level sensor with a newly developed high resolution capacitive principle has been used. Important experiences about influences to the oil level within the engine sump during engine operation have been gained. This information is also of interest to those who are still measuring the oil consumption with the traditional drain weigh method. This new instrument will be described in detail.
