In Japan, mini wheel loaders of 0.5 m3 or less bucket capacity can be operated with a general driver's license and so are widely used in various fields, thus leading to their rapid market expansion.
Their widespread use has consequently led to wheel loaders being viewed as convenient, useful products.
Since the construction machinery seen at urban jobsites has a considerable influence on our image of that industry, construction machines must be unique, safe, human-engineered products.
This, requires considerable improvement of mechanical parts, such as innovative design enabling the manufacture of lightweight curved-body structures at no cost increase.
KOMATSU MEC CORPORATION succeeded in molding large exterior parts by RIM (Reaction Injection Molding) using PDCPD (Polydicyclopentadiene) of high rigidity and impact resistance, for model changed WA30 and WA40 wheel loaders, resulting in substantial cost reduction and a distinctive, superior appearance.
