Authors Abstract
Content
Features and pitfalls of SI metric are presented to assist a mechanical engineer in working with SI units. Examples illustrate controversies and departures from customary practices. The mass versus force issue is treated in a novel way, and practical implications are shown. “Ball-park-figure” values of standard engineering numbers in SI units are provided. A conversion table lists SI equivalents in a manner which enhances understanding of the differences among the various metric and English systems of measures.
