Authors Abstract
Content
Beading patterns on vehicle floor play an important role on cabin noise and vibrations. Work done in the past by various authors indicate towards a particular type of floor beading pattern as good solution [1] but selection and optimization the type of beading patterns [2,3] for best performance on a given vehicle floor in all vehicle operating conditions is always a matter of debate which is usually subject to gauge thickness possible to produce, feasibility from tooling point of view, material type possible to use, weight of BIW, cost of production and also the performance evaluation on a physical prototype late in the program for low and mid frequency noises.
During early vehicle development stage, is it always better to have an idea about low frequency NVH performance of floor panels with beads using CAE techniques for further evolution and decision on beading pattern towards tooling finalization based on mentioned freedom and constraints.
Current work presents the details of CAE based study conducted on test correlated BIW and vehicle models of N-S engine layout, body over chassis vehicle to understand the effect of different types of floor beading patterns on cabin low frequency noise-vibrations and recommendation for implementation.
