Abstract
In order to demonstrate the higher blends of Tallow Methyl Ester (TME) up to 30% in Nordic regions and to highlight possible technical obstacles regarding distribution and long-term use in standard vehicles, a large-scale demonstration took place in Denmark.
In 14 months, from November 2008 to the end of 2009, the vehicles covered 10 million km and used 3 million liters of biodiesel blend. Investigations included chassis dynamometer tests, emission measurements, filter plugging issues, engine oil deterioration and durability of auxiliary equipment. The output of the project was an insight into both economic and technical obstacles and benefits arising from a broader introduction of higher blend TME fuels in the Nordic regions.
