Abstract
A Hg-Type cold cathode fluorescent lamp with rapid light output response, which is suitable for a backlighting ofinstrument clusters and navigation displays, has been developed. By optimizing the kind of gas, the gas pressure, the tube wall thickness and the lighting condition, a rapid rise of light output has been accomplished. By controlling the amount of mercury content, long life has been realized at wide temperature ranges.
This newly developed lamp does not require any heating system, therefore a backlighting unit with simple structure can be achieved.
